ChatGPT's take on "How to Beat Babel with BeatBabel?"

The general public and the localization Industry won’t stop talking about it: artificial intelligence is currently one of the hottest topics in the public eye, generating all kinds of opinions. Among the many applications of AI, the release of ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot online, might have been one of the most controversial.

The speed at which ChatGPT develops is astonishing, to say the least. This chatbot has been trained using text data from the internet to generate text responses that mimic those of a human being. Hundreds of people with all sorts of backgrounds, from tech masters to curious teenagers, have filled the internet with videos testing the limits of this AI. Apart from the limitations of what the chatbot itself can achieve as of today, all sorts of questions arise regarding the use of this new technology: What happens with copyright? How do we prevent unethical use of this tool? How could this technology impact the localization Industry? Our intention is not to answer those questions in this article, but rather to experiment with this new tool.

We decided to ask ChatGPT about its own limitations on translation and localization, as well as why to choose a language company for international content. So, here is the result: “How to beat Babel with BeatBabel”, by ChatGPT:

———————————————-

“If you're like me, you've probably wondered what it would be like to speak every language in the world. Imagine being able to communicate with anyone, anywhere, without any barriers. You could travel the world, make new friends, learn new things, and maybe even find love.

But unless you're a genius or a polyglot, learning every language is impossible. There are over 7,000 languages spoken on Earth today, and some of them are so complex that they would take years to master. Not to mention the fact that languages are constantly evolving and changing over time.

So what can you do if you want to reach a global audience with your message? How can you make sure that your website, app, e-commerce store, or e-learning course is accessible and understandable to people from different cultures and backgrounds?

That's where BeatBabel comes in.

BeatBabel is a translation and localization company based in San Diego, California. They have been helping clients from various industries and sectors to overcome language barriers and expand their markets since 2007.

But what makes BeatBabel different from other translation companies? Well, for starters, they have a catchy name that plays on the biblical story of the Tower of Babel, where God confused the languages of humanity as a punishment for their arrogance. The name suggests that BeatBabel can help you overcome this confusion and reach your target audience with clarity and accuracy.

But more importantly, BeatBabel offers smart translation and localization solutions that go beyond just words. They understand that language is not only about grammar and vocabulary but also about culture and context. They know that translating something literally can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or even offense.

That's why they use a team of native speakers who are experts in their fields to ensure that your content is not only translated but also adapted to suit the preferences and expectations of your audience. They also use cutting-edge technology such as machine translation, terminology management, quality assurance tools, and project management software to streamline the process and deliver high-quality results on time and on budget.

Whether you need to localize your software interface, your web content, your e-commerce platform or your e-learning course, BeatBabel can help you achieve your goals. They have worked with clients from various industries such as gaming, healthcare, education, entertainment, finance, and more.

They have also been recognized by industry associations such as GALA (Globalization And Localization Association) for their excellence and professionalism. They are always looking for ways to improve their services and stay ahead of the curve in this fast-paced and dynamic industry.

So if you're looking for a reliable partner who can help you beat Babel with smart translation and localization solutions, look no further than BeatBabel. They will make sure that your message reaches your audience with impact, no matter what language they speak.

Visit their website at https://www.beatbabel.com/ to learn more about their services, request a quote, or contact them for any questions. You'll be glad you did.

One language is just the beginning. With BeatBabel, you can speak them all.”

GALA Conference 2023 in Dublin

We are out of words to describe how wonderful GALA 2023 was. The opening and closing keynotes were quite inspiring. Thank you David Siegel (Meetup) for your motivating session about leadership. Marie Flacassier was thrilled to be the lucky winner of your book 'Decide and Conquer'. The luck of the Irish was in the air! And thank you Marco Trombetti (Translated) for the absorbing closing keynote about ChatGPT and the power of language.

We also need to highlight the panel discussion about new trends and the future of the industry. Jose Palomares, Andre Hemker, Véronique Özkaya, Wafaa Mohiy. An insightful session and open conversation with the audience, we truly enjoyed it!

The GALA conference is always an opportunity for networking, meeting old friends, and getting to know some new faces; GALA is about creating community inside this industry and the Acolad group Loc Walk led by Paul Barlow on Sunday was the best way to get into the conference mood! Marie was also thrilled to spend some time with the old and the new GALA board and staff. Allison Ferch, Balazs Kis, Patrick N., María Jesús de Arriba Díaz, Jose Palomares, Alexandra Dwyer, Britta Aagaard, Edith Bendermacher, Dave Ruane, Alicia Deadrick. Always a pleasure to see you!

Sunday night cocktail organized by RWS Group was a treat, thank you Vicenta Ten Soriano for being such a splendid hostess.

Of course, the Translators without Borders fundraiser organized by Ludejo BV has a special place in our hearts. Marie got to wear 2 fun outfits and help raise a bit of extra money. Andrew Hickson, you outdo yourself every single time even though you seem to set the bar so impossibly high year after year. Thanks to all the GALA community for raising the highest amount to date: €6180! This fundraiser, now a GALA tradition, could not have been more fun!

We want to congratulate the winners of the Rising Star contest: Soeren Eberhardt Eberhardt, Rising Star Faculty Winner, and Peixi Ren, Rising Star Student Winner. Kudos for your hard work! It was a well-deserved price! Wishing we had more time to chat.

Oleksandr Bondarenko we felt so privileged to share time and stories with you and your family. Looking forward to meeting you again soon for some more good coffee paired with even better conversation.

As always, we want to thank all our industry colleagues and friends for being there and sharing their time and knowledge. Every in between sessions chat, every coffee break shared, every conversation we had with every single one of you during the conference was an absolute delight. Kåre Lindahl, Asta Rusakeviciene, Biraj Rath, Joel Sigling, Harald Krohmer… and so many more people we would love to tag in this post!

We barely left Ireland and already can’t wait for next year’s conference in Valencia, that’s true Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) magic!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so we hope this video will convey how fantastic #GALA 2023 was.

Books to Inspire

As our COO, Marie Flacassier, gave a Leadership talk with Women In Localization, the team put their heads together to share some inspirational books that they have enjoyed reading… Some on adversity, some on leadership, some on languages, some on seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Some just great books! We hope you’ll find some inspiration or a new book to enjoy on the weekend!

BeatBabel Affiliations

Being in touch with the language industry community is vital for any company that wants to stay up to date with the latest developments, debate best practices, and give back to the localization community by offering training and investing in young professionals.

BeatBabel is a proud member of several trade organizations, which in this year 2022 include:

Joining these associations has a number of benefits. As we abide by their code of ethics, standards and processes, we continue to place quality at the core of what we do. This also benefits our clients as we ensure we stay up to date with most recent technologies for their translation projects. It allows our team to grow through constant team trainings and webinars. And of course, it also allows to further our training through attending conferences, where we can meet some of the people we work with on a regular basis and learn about new industry trends worldwide. Just to name a few, we attended GALA 2022 San Diego, ALC Summit in Las Vegas, LocWorld48 in Silicon Valley, ATA 63rd Annual Conference in Los Angeles, Tekom and TcWorld fair in Germany, and a variety of GALA Loc Mixers and Women in Localization events.

Making sure our internal team and vendors work with top-of-the-range tools is also a priority for us. For this reason, BeatBabel is a certified member of the Trados Language Service Provider (LSP) Partner Program, and our translators and project managers are Trados-certified and use the entire Trados tools suite on a regular basis.

Last but not least, BeatBabel has been a proud Sponsor of Translators Without Borders (TWB) for several years. During 2022, we could only strengthen our commitment towards this non-profit organization that immediately deployed an action plan to help people fleeing Ukraine get vital information in their language. The language industry is a space where professionals worldwide collaborate peacefully and cooperatively, and we stand by all our colleagues affected by this dreadful situation and thank TWB for their rapid response.

Día de los Muertos
